Divorce Mediation
Divorce mediation helps separating couples reach an agreement without going to court. It’s a practical, respectful way to finalise parenting or property arrangements, with the support of an experienced family lawyer.
At Family Law Resolutions, we guide you through the mediation process with clear advice and fixed fees, so you can move forward with confidence.
What Is Divorce Mediation?
Divorce mediation is a structured process where a neutral third party helps you and your former partner work through disagreements. The goal is to reach practical, legally sound agreements on issues like parenting and property, without needing to go to court.
The mediator does not take sides or make decisions. Instead, they help both parties communicate clearly, identify the key issues, and work towards an outcome that everyone can live with.
You can attend mediation with or without legal advice. At Family Law Resolutions, we ensure you’re supported by a divorce mediation lawyer who understands your rights and helps you prepare at every step.

At Family Law Resolutions, we know that child custody matters can be complex and emotional. Our experienced child custody lawyers provide clear guidance and strong legal representation to help you secure the best outcome for your child.
When Is Divorce Mediation a Good Option?
- You want to stay in control of the outcome
- There’s a willingness to communicate and compromise
- You need to sort out parenting arrangements, property division, or both
- You’re looking for a faster and more cost-effective process
- You want to reduce stress and protect your children from conflict
Benefits of Divorce Mediation
- Faster – Most mediations take weeks, not months.
- Cost-effective – Fewer legal hours and fixed fees mean lower costs.
- Private – Mediation is confidential, unlike court hearings.
- Flexible – You set the pace and decide what matters most.
- Child-focused – It helps protect your children from unnecessary conflict.
- Less stressful – The process encourages cooperation, not confrontation.
Our Approach to Divorce Mediation
At Family Law Resolutions, we make divorce mediation straightforward and manageable. We start by listening to your goals, then guide you through the process with clear advice and step-by-step support.
You’ll work with an experienced divorce mediation lawyer who helps you:
- Understand your legal position
- Prepare for mediation sessions
- Stay focused on practical outcomes
- Turn any agreements into legally binding documents
What Happens If Mediation Doesn’t Work?
Sometimes, mediation doesn’t lead to a full agreement, and that’s okay. You might still resolve some issues, which can save time and money if you need to go to court later.
If an agreement isn’t reached, we’ll help you understand your next steps. Our team can support you with:
- Filing court applications where needed
- Continuing negotiations outside of mediation
- Representing you through the court process if required
