How We Charge
At Family Law Resolutions, we’re open and upfront about how we charge you during your family law matter.
At Family Law Resolutions, we’re open and upfront about how we charge you during your family law matter.
Our family law fee structure is what is known as “fixed pricing”, which we can offer in most cases. In other cases, we can offer time costing at our hourly rate.
Basically, this means you know how we will charge before you instruct us to act for you.
We provide family law fixed pricing for three types of matters:
- Divorce
- Property Settlement
- Parenting Arrangements
Pricing Options
We understand that legal costs can feel overwhelming, which is why we offer flexible and transparent pricing options to suit your circumstances and
help you avoid bill shock.
Divorce Applications – Fixed Fees
Joint application for divorce: $749
Sole application for divorce: $849
*plus GST
Fixed Fees
Fixed fees provide clarity and peace of mind. For many of our services, we can offer a fixed quote upfront for a clearly defined scope of work. That means you’ll know exactly what your legal work will cost from the outset — no surprises, no hidden fees.Property Settlement Consent Orders – Fixed Fees
Essential Consent Orders: $3,649*
Advance Consent Orders: from $3,949*
*plus GST
Time Costing
This is the traditional billing method, where legal work is charged based on the time spent on your matter. This option can be helpful in situations where the scope of work is difficult to predict — such as in ongoing litigation — or where you need flexibility in how your matter progresses.Deferred Fees (Pay Later)
In some property settlement matters, we may be able to offer a deferred fee arrangement. This means you can pay your legal fees at the end of your matter, once your financial settlement has been finalised. To find out if this option might be available to you, please speak with our team.Parenting Plans
Essential Parenting Plans: $1,149*
Advanced Parenting Plans: $1,549*
*plus GST
Split Invoices
For certain fixed fee matters, we offer split invoice options to help spread out the cost. This typically involves paying 50% upfront, and the remaining 50% 30 days later — giving you more breathing room while keeping your matter on track.Reduced Court Filing Fees
If you hold a current Commonwealth concession card — such as a Centrelink Health Care Card or Pension Card — you may be eligible for reduced Court filing fees. We can assist with applying for this on your behalf.Direct Debit Payment Plans
We understand that paying in one lump sum isn’t always possible. In eligible cases, we can offer direct debit instalment plans, with agreed regular payments automatically debited from your nominated account.First free interview
Making the decision to contact a family lawyer can be daunting. It can be difficult to focus on precisely what you need to do.
To help remove the financial risk of an initial consultation with a lawyer, we provide a “first free interview”.

Will there be other costs in my matter?
In most cases there will be additional ‘third party’ costs which are not included our fixed fees. A third-party cost means any government or court fees that may apply or any services you may require from other professionals, such as a property valuer or conveyancer. We will let you know about possible additional costs at the start of your matter and keep you informed if any other costs may arise.
If you require additional services from outside the original scope of work, we will always provide a quote first for your approval before commencing work. If you wish to discuss costs with us, please don’t hesitate to contact our friendly team: 1800 357 000
Court filing fees
To lodge an application for divorce, the Court will charge a filing fee of $1,125 or a reduced fee of $375 for eligible concession card holders or those that meet the Court’s financial hardship criteria.
To lodge an application for consent orders, the Court will charge a filing fee of $205. The Applicant ordinarily meets the cost of this expense but will be exempt from payment if they hold an eligible concession card.
Flexible Legal Financing for Family Law Matters
We have partnered with JustFund as a practical and compassionate solution for clients who need support covering legal costs. Through our partnership, eligible clients can access a flexible line of credit to help manage legal fees and expenses, with nothing to repay until after a settlement is reached. Unlike traditional lenders, JustFund does not look at income or credit scores to approve funding support for family law matters.
This kind of flexible funding can be life-changing—particularly for those who are financially dependent on a partner, experiencing family violence, or trying to navigate a complex separation without the immediate means to proceed.
By introducing legal finance early in the process, we want to help ensure that no one is denied quality legal representation simply because of their financial position.
Who is JustFund?
JustFund is Australia’s first and only dedicated family law finance provider that partners with leading family law firms to make legal representation more accessible—especially for those facing financial hardship.

JustFund aims to remove that barrier by providing a flexible, affordable line of credit tailored to your legal case.
Funding with JustFund can be accessed at any stage of the separation process and is repaid only after your settlement. By simplifying access to legal finance, JustFund empowers people to move forward with confidence, dignity, and support—when they need it most.
